KPL Awarded National Grant for Small & Rural Libraries!

KPL has been selected as one of 300 libraries awarded funding via Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities. This competitive award comes with a $10,000 grant that will help the library make our space more physically accessible to the community. As part of the grant, KPL’s staff will take a course in leading conversations, and then host a conversation with residents about physical accessibility at KPL, and then use grant funds to update our space accordingly.

This means we want to hear from you on how we can increase the accessibility of our facilities and services. Join us for a discussion about how our space works (and doesn’t work) for you. Bring your thoughts on things that you consider to be strengths to the library's accessibility, or ideas on how things could be more accessible to all.

Tuesday, August 4th at 11am or 3pm (in person) or Thursday, August 6th at 6pm (hybrid, Zoom and in person).

Conversations will be hosted in-person at the library and virtually. Sign ups for these discussions are available in the library, or give us a call to let us know you want to come by! For access to Thursday's Zoom conversation, you can visit this link and contact the library via email/phone for the meeting's passcode.

Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities is an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) in collaboration with the Association for Rural and Small Libraries (ARSL).
